Have you ever seen a shark in the sea? They can grow quite big, up to 6 ft in length and can be dangerous, however we met a shark who was quite different. For one thing he was quite small but even more extraordinary, he was red.
We saw him in the Red Sea near Assab, where we had gone on holiday. It was very hot there but luckily there was a strong wind blowing which helped to keep us cool.
We put a tent up to give us shade and the wind was so strong that we didn’t need poles to keep the tent up. Kebede was with us and two things really amazed him, one was that the sea water was salty so you couldn’t drink it, also that he could not see to the other side. He had been used to lakes where the water was not salty and what’s more you could see to the other side.
He was very pleased to hear that I had bought some water with us and we could also buy Fanta and co-co- cola I am not sure why it is called the Red Sea because it is certainly not red, so why was this shark red?
We bought some fish and they were not red, so we fried them for lunch, they were very boney so rather a waster of time to eat.
Maybe they were red Mullet who’s skin does Turn a redish tinge.
Could you find out why the Red Sea is called the Red Sea and let me know?
