The picture was taken at Christmas at Mulu I think. No probably in Addis Ababa as the all-weather road was not built at that time.
I think the cook might have been Hapte Michael, we used to think it meant * help to make it boil* he was always rather fun with Chris and me. But he did get very annoyed with the amount of eggs we took to cook our breakfast with, in the hut our Dad had built for us in the garden in Addis Ababa. We used to do this at weekends. (as there was no school at weekends.)
Eshettie did not support us when we were expelled by the Dergue but that was because they were all too scared of the Deurge – the communist regime who expelled us…But I do remember someone saying that Eshettie had it. When we came back after the communists had gone, he came up and gave the pistol back to me. It is quite wrong of me to feel cross with him for what he did all those years ago. How would I react if the same?
