Animals

We saw plenty of camels ( some of them wild camels) which the Danakil people would catch and train them, to be used for riding.  Camels can store water in their humps and that would keep them alive from the liquid point of view. I also watched mongoose who are very clever at using anything to help them survive.

I expect we also saw varieties of snakes (but as I am terrified of snakes) I probably pretended I did not see them (or looked the other way)

I expect there were also mosquitoes, and I can remember sleeping under a mosquito net if there were any mosquitoes around as they can pass on malaria to you which is a horrid disease. There is a vaccine against it nowadays that stops you from getting malaria.

There were probably Tota monkeys there. They are widespread in Africa as they can use most things to their own advantage.

Perhaps also moths which come out at night and are everywhere to be found. Maybe also some butterflies (but I am not sure of that). It was probably far or hot for them to survive daytime temperatures.
