The upturned basin

There was a hill that we called the upturned basin, we could see it from the farm and it really did look like an upturned basin.

We travelled to it on horseback and we took a tent with us to sleep in as it was so far away. When we got there about lunch time to our amazement and excitement, we saw a wooden door leading right into the hillside.

We got off our horses and tied their bridles to a bush, we took a big stick with us just in case there was a wild animal in there. We slowly went towards the door, we tried to open it but it would not open, so we decided to rush up to it and kick it open. This we did and to our surprise we found a litter of Ethiopian wolves inside, they were called Kabaro in Amharic and are quite rare. Usually they are only found in the Bali mountains, so it was very exciting to find them here. We quickly pushed the door shut and crept away because if their parents found us here, they might desert their offspring.
