Trip to the Simien

We had a much longer trip to the Simien mountains. Two main memories stick in my mind. One was the extreme cold at 16,000 ft. Getting to sleep in the tent was hard. I think we might have built a fire to keep us warm. The other memory was the number of punctures we had, so many that we had to get new tires. Mike and Christopher went off to buy new tires Maybe at (Debre Marcos). Piers stayed with us to guard us but there was no trouble. Ethiopians were always very kind to children, in fact, there is a special day in August which was the childrens day. The song started (buhi balu lijoch ho) every child was given a special loaf of bread called buhi. We used to be given so many loaves that it was impossible to eat them all. We shared them with local children and maybe fed some to the horses.
